When I first started dyeing yarn, I thought it would just be something I did as a hobby. I though I would just dye up some yarn for myself to use. However, I soon found out that I love dyeing yarn. I love experimenting with different colors and seeing what happens when I mix colors together. So eventually I started to think maybe this could be something more than a hobby.

After giving teaching a couple more tries, I finally decided that was not the career for me. So during the summer of 2018 I finally put some of my hand dyed yarn in my Etsy shop. It took a couple of months for me to get brave enough to try to get a trunk show at a yarn shop.

But I ended up emailing a few shops and I got a response from Bliss Yarns in Brentwood, TN! I was so surprised and excited. In August of 2018 I went to Bliss Yarns for the first time and met the shop owner, Debbie. I had a small box of yarn that I had dyed, she checked it out and actually liked what she saw, and we scheduled a trunk show for September 15.

I had about 2.5 weeks to dye up over 100 skeins of yarn. I ordered what I thought was the biggest yarn order (I know realize that it was a very small yarn order). Waited nervously for the yarn to arrive because I was so afraid it would get delayed somewhere. But the yarn got here in time and I got busy dyeing all the yarn I could in the 2 weeks I had before my first ever trunk show.

On September 15, 2018 I had my first trunk show at the amazing Bliss Yarns in Brentwood, TN and it was such a success. I could not believe how many people liked the yarn I had dyed. It was just so amazing.

I then applied for several yarn/fiber festivals and contacted other yarn shops in Tennessee. I have been so blessed this past year and want to thank everyone who has supported me. I still sometimes can't believe how far I have come in the last year. There's always something to learn and my dyeing style has evolved and changed over the last year.

I just wanted to share a bit of the yarn I have dyed over the past year. I am so looking forward to what is to come with Farm Girl Fibers and again, I am so thankful for everyone who has supported me while starting this business. And I am so excited to see what this next year brings to this small business.
